Serving Youth Aging Out
The statistics do not favor children aging out of foster care without forever families. Studies consistently show that children who "age out" are 66% more likely to end up homeless, in prison, or dead. Although most states do have "extended care" programs that provide case management, support, and financial assistance to youth from foster care, few of them utilize such services. Instead, they are anxious to be done with "the system."

So what can the community do to serve these youth? Yes, they need financial support, mentoring, career opportunities, and other tangible services; but moreso, they need lasting relationships and what better context are these found than in the local church. Events such as Project Graduation Blessing can be catalysts for lasting relationships to be built. Contact us to join a Project Graduation Blessing in your area or host your own!
